Bonk Meme
Bonk is the crude edit of one Shiba Inu swinging a bat onto another Shiba's head, with the word BONK printed across the blow. Label who is doing the bonking and who deserves it, then save your bonk meme.
What does the Bonk meme mean?
Bonk is a cartoonish, harmless punishment. The dog with the bat is the voice of reason, and the dog getting hit is whoever had a bad idea, said something out of line, or needs to snap out of it. It's often aimed at yourself: your common sense bonking your 2 a.m. shopping urge, or your alarm bonking your plan to sleep in. Because the art is deliberately low quality, the meme feels playful rather than aggressive. The best-known use is the reply "go to horny jail," but the format works for any light-hearted correction.
Where is the Bonk meme from?
Know Your Meme traces the bonk format to Cheems memes. A Tumblr user posted a photo of a Shiba Inu named Copper with a swollen face on March 24, 2016, and on July 13, 2019 the Instagram page snootboopes posted a video of the dog being hit with a hammer to a cartoon "bonk" sound. The clip spread through YouTube compilations and Twitter that July, and bonk edits became part of the ironic Doge meme scene. On March 19, 2020, iFunny user BaconatorSr posted a Doge hitting Cheems with the caption "Go to Horny Jail BONK," and in the following weeks the image became a common Twitter reply.

Tips
- Keep labels to two or three words; the image is small and blurry by design.
- Upscaling won't make it sharper, and the rough look is part of the charm, so don't worry about quality.
- Put one label on the dog with the bat and one on the dog being hit, so the joke reads instantly.
- Use it on yourself or friends for small sins; it's meant to be silly, not mean.
