About Capypix
Capypix is a free meme generator made for phones: hundreds of templates you can find by describing them, captions, GIFs, effects and cutouts — with no sign-up and nothing uploaded.
Why we built it
Most meme makers are buried under pop-ups and ads, make you scroll through endless lists to find a template, and stamp a big logo on the result that you have to pay to remove. Capypix started from a simpler idea: open the page, type what you remember about the meme — “guy looking at another girl”, “cat crying” — and be captioning it a second later, comfortably, with one thumb.
How it works
- Your photos stay on your device. Memes are drawn in your browser. Photos and GIFs you open are never sent to our server. Background removal runs an AI model in the page (it downloads once, about 97 MB, and then works offline).
- Search that understands descriptions. Every template has a written description, nicknames and the feelings it is used for. Only the words you type into the search box are sent to our server to find the closest templates.
- No sign-up, no limits. Saved memes carry a small capypix.com tag in the corner by default — switch it off in one tap, free. Favourites and recently used templates are kept in your own browser.
Where the templates come from
Part of the collection is public-domain art and photography from museum open-access collections and Wikimedia Commons. The rest are the classic and viral meme formats people share every day; those images belong to their owners and are offered for commentary and parody. Every template's source is listed on the template credits page, and image owners can ask us to remove a template on the copyright page. New templates are added every week as new formats catch on.
How the site stays free
Capypix shows a small number of ads. They are kept out of the editor and the template grid so they never get in the way of making a meme, and they never have access to your photos. Details are in the privacy policy.
Who runs it
Capypix is an independent project based in Japan, launched in October 2026. It began as a set of in-browser file converters; those image, PDF and video tools now live at tools.capypix.com, and capypix.com is dedicated to making memes.
