What does the Challenge Accepted meme mean?

Challenge Accepted is about overcommitting with confidence. Someone says a thing can't be done, shouldn't be done, or is a bad idea, and the smug stick figure takes it as a personal invitation. On this template the top text holds the dare or warning (“You can't…”, “Nobody can…”, “Don't…”) and the bottom keeps “Challenge accepted” as the answer. The humor comes from how pointless or self-defeating the challenge is, like carrying every grocery bag in one trip.

Where is the Challenge Accepted meme from?

“Challenge accepted” began as a catchphrase of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother; Know Your Meme dates its earliest use to the episode “Aldrin Justice,” which aired October 23, 2006. The rage-comic face now tied to the phrase, a stick figure with crossed arms and a confident smirk, came later. The earliest known examples were posted on a bodybuilding forum on November 12, 2010. Within weeks a dedicated Tumblr blog appeared, a Facebook page followed that December, and Meme Generator added a template in April 2011. It became one of the familiar rage faces of early-2010s web comics, used whenever a character decides to take on something absurd.

Tips

Phrase the top line as a dare or a warning; “You can't…” or “Don't…” sets up the punchline best.
Leave “Challenge accepted” as is. The recognizable phrase is the punchline.
This image is small (400 × 300), so keep the dare short and the text stays large and readable.
