Trade Offer Meme
Trade Offer is the image of a man in a suit with his fingers steepled under a purple-lit ceiling, with a red "TRADE OFFER" banner and two columns: "i receive" and "you receive." Fill in both sides with your own deal and download it here.
What does the Trade Offer meme mean?
The format is a negotiation that's comically unbalanced. Under "i receive" you list what you want; under "you receive" you list what the other side gets, which is usually far less, something useless, or occasionally surprisingly generous. The man's confident pose sells the deal as if it were perfectly fair. It's often written from the point of view of a pet, a sibling, an app or a store.
Where is the Trade Offer meme from?
Trade Offer started as a TikTok trend of mock "trade proposals" set to the NBA Draft jingle; an early example appeared in November 2020, and the trend took off in March 2021. The specific image comes from a video by TikTok creator bradeazy, who appeared in formal wear and laid out a one-sided deal with the headings "I receive" and "You receive." He reposted the video on Instagram on March 18, 2021, and iFunny users began making their own versions the same day. By early April 2021 the still frame with the banner and two columns had become a widely edited template on Reddit and elsewhere.
