Trollface Meme
Trollface is the black-and-white cartoon face with a wide, mischievous grin that became the symbol of internet trolling and rage comics. Use this template to add your own "problem?" caption and download the meme.
What does the Trollface meme mean?
Trollface represents someone who has just pulled off a prank, bait or harmless trick and is enjoying the reaction. In classic rage comics it appears in the last panel with "Problem?" after a character does something deliberately annoying. In a single-image meme, the caption describes the troll move and the grin finishes the joke. It's playful smugness: you know exactly what you did.
Where is the Trollface meme from?
Trollface was drawn in MS Paint by artist Carlos Ramirez, who went by Whynne on DeviantArt. He uploaded it on September 19, 2008 as part of a short comic about the pointlessness of trolling on 4chan's video game board. Within months the face was being used across 4chan as a general trolling emoticon, and in 2009 it became a staple of rage comics on Reddit. Ramirez registered the copyright in 2010 and has since licensed the image and enforced it, including a 2015 takedown of a game that used the face. Around 2020, Trollface came back in ironic and surreal edits, including the dark "Trollge" videos.
