Why South Park keeps making memes
South Park has been on the air since 1997 and is still written and made in about a week per episode, so it reacts to the news faster than almost any other show. That speed is why a South Park meme can be both twenty years old, like the banker sighing “Aaaand it's gone”, and brand new, like Randy Marsh's latest bit going round TikTok.
The cut-out animation helps too. Every character has a flat, readable face, so a single frame tells you the mood even at thumbnail size, and a short caption is enough to land the joke.
Writing a good South Park caption
Most of these work as reactions: put the situation in the caption and let the character's face do the rest. Member Berries is for nostalgia about anything, Mr. Mackey for repeating a rule nobody follows, and Aaaand It's Gone for money that vanishes the moment it arrives.
Some formats have their own guides — open one from the list above to see where the scene comes from and caption ideas.
