Huh Cat Meme
Huh Cat is the wide-eyed white cat with black patches on its head, mouth slightly open, looking completely baffled. Add your own caption to this confused-cat reaction and download it as a meme.
What does the Huh Cat meme mean?
Huh Cat means confusion and disbelief. You use it when someone says something so strange, unexpected or nonsensical that the only possible response is "huh?" The caption usually sets up the confusing moment — a weird text, a plot twist, an instruction that makes no sense — and the cat's frozen face is the reaction. In story-style memes, Huh Cat stands in for the person who doesn't understand what's going on.
Where is the Huh Cat meme from?
Huh Cat started as a TikTok clip of a chubby pet cat meowing, apparently for food. Know Your Meme says the cat is known as Ben and that the original video was first posted in September 2021 and later deleted. Russian TikTok users made early edits in 2021 that matched text to the cat's expressions. The defining twist came in December 2022, when the cat's meow was dubbed with a "huh?" sound effect; a May 2023 upload of that version went viral. Since then it has been widely reused with captions about people feeling confused or lost, often as the bewildered character in short labeled skits.

Tips

- Describe something confusing, not something sad or angry — that's what other cat memes are for.
- Add "huh?" as a small second line if your audience might not know the clip.
