How to convert HEIC to JPG
- Drop your HEIC photos into the box above, or tap Choose files.
- Pick JPG or PNG. For JPG you can adjust the quality (92 is a good default).
- Download each photo, or Download all as a ZIP file.
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It is based on HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) and stores photos at roughly half the size of a JPG with similar quality.
The catch is compatibility. Many Windows computers, older apps, and website upload forms do not accept HEIC, so the photo will not open or the upload is rejected. Converting to JPG fixes that, because JPG works everywhere.
Other ways to get JPG instead of HEIC
On iPhone: shoot JPG from the start
Open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. Existing photos stay HEIC.
On iPhone: let the transfer convert it
In Settings → Photos, set Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic. Photos copied to a computer by cable are then converted to JPG.
On Mac
Open the photo in Preview, then File → Export and choose JPEG. This works one photo at a time.
On Windows
Windows can open HEIC after installing the HEIF and HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store (the HEVC one may be paid). Even then, many websites still will not accept the file, so converting to JPG is usually simpler.
Frequently asked questions
Is this HEIC to JPG converter free?
Yes. Convert as many photos as you like, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser on your own device. Your photos are never sent anywhere, which also makes it fast for large batches.
How many HEIC files can I convert at once?
You can select or drop many files at once. They are converted one after another to keep memory use low, then you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is a compressed format, so a tiny amount of detail can change. At the default quality of 92 the difference is not visible to the eye. Choose 100 for maximum quality, or PNG for a lossless file (PNG files are much larger).
Is the photo's date and location kept?
No. The converted JPG or PNG does not include the original EXIF metadata such as GPS location and camera details. That is handy when you share photos and do not want to reveal where they were taken.
Can I convert Live Photos?
Yes, the still image of a Live Photo is a normal HEIC file and converts fine. The short video part is a separate file and is not included.
A website says my photo is too large. What should I do?
Open “Resize (optional)” under the converter and pick a size such as 200 KB, or set a maximum width. The JPG files are then made small enough in the same step — no second tool needed.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and Windows?
Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on phones and computers.
